GENEVA CLASSICS ’09: What an eyeful!
Hall 7 of PALEXPO was « filled to the brim » last weekend with visitors and exhibitions at the 4th edition of GENEVA CLASSICS, the exhibition dedicated to all types of historic transportation. Some 21,000 visitors congregated in the 15,000 square meters of the Hall and beyond onto the adjoining airport tarmac to see the 22 historic aircraft on display there. Included in the throngs of visitors were Commandant de Corps André Blattmann, Commander of the Swiss Army, and Commandant de Corps Markus Gygax, Commander of the Swiss Air Force.

The historic aircraft enthusiasts were thrilled with the collection of 22 military aircraft on the tarmac. It was the largest number of historic Swiss military aircraft ever assembled. On Saturday morning, SPHAIR, the Swiss Air Force pilot training school, celebrated its 50th anniversary of pilot training in the presence of 350 special guests, including the Commander of the Swiss Army, André Blattmann, and the Commander of the Swiss Air Force, Markus Gygax.

For automobile lovers, racing Aston Martins, prestigious Bugattis, a number of significant models representing 100 years of Audi history, legendary American cars, and many other interesting historic vehicles formed spectacular displays in Hall 7. Boating enthusiasts also had historic wonders to enjoy, as did the many Vespa and racing motorcycle fans.

Around 20 clubs and several hundred private owners contributed to the large number and variety of interesting vehicles at the exposition. In total, over 500 classic cars and more than 30 historic motor cycles and scooters filled the Club Area and the Classic Car parking on the esplanade of Hall 6.

Once again, the exhibitors were very satisfied and greatly appreciated the outstanding quality and friendly atmosphere of the show.

Mr. Yannick Chatelain was the happy winner of the GENEVA CLASSICS prize drawing. He won a flight in a historic jet fighter from Geneva to Payerne, scheduled for the early afternoon of Monday, September 28th.

Don’t miss the 5th exciting edition of GENEVA CLASSICS in 2010!
